Duties Description The Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics is looking to hire adjunct faculty to teach Biology I and Biology I Labs for the Fall 2019 semester. The lecture is scheduled for Monday and Wednesday mornings. Labs are scheduled for Monday afternoon and Wednesday mornings. The course is designed for non-majors or those who have not taken biology in high school.

BIOL 101 | Introduction to Biology (C) This course is a survey of the fundamentals of biology starting with the molecules that make up life, leading to cells and multi-cellular organisms, and on to populations, ecosystems and human impact. Rather than a detailed exploration of each topic, the course will lead to an understanding of the unifying principals common to all biological species - such as structure and function, homeostasis, metabolism and reproduction - while highlighting the diversity of organisms that make up the web of life. Articles chosen from current events will highlight the application of fundamental concepts to specific topics in health and disease, society and/or the environment.

BIOL 101X | Intro to Biology Lab This lab will emphasize the scientific method of hands-on exercises on both ends of the scale, both molecular techniques and assessing ecological communities.

Additional Comments Course will be offered Monday and Wednesday mornings, and labs offered Monday afternoon and Wednesday mornings.
The start date for this position is August 2019.
This is a part-time, temporary position.
The salary for this position is $834 per credit hour and $417 per contact hour above that. $1,668 per two credit lecture and $1,251 per lab.
