Minimum Qualifications Administrative Specialist 1, SG-18: Permanent service in this title or one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/c service in a title SG-16 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law.
Administrative Specialist Trainee: Reachable on the current PATT or PCO eligible list; OR one year of permanent service in a title allocated to G-11 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer; OR to qualify for a 70.4 transfer, one year of service in a title allocated to SG-11 or higher and a bachelor’s degree in addition to a current or past standing on the PATT, PCO, PCT or PMI eligible lists.
Preferred Qualifications: Attention to detail, and strong communication skills are required. The incumbent should be comfortable working at a fast pace and be able to work effectively under tight deadlines.
Duties Description The Administrative Specialist 1 will be assigned to the Office of Justice Research and Performance (OJRP). Reporting to the Deputy Commissioner, the incumbent will provide high level professional administrative support to OJRP. Duties will include, but are not limited to: managing all aspects of office operations; coordinating all work schedules, vacation schedules, travel planning, performance evaluation tracking, and special assignments; overseeing the purchase of goods and services; managing the spending plan; coordinating the hiring and recruitment process; coordinating scheduling and agendas for staff and management meetings; and managing other activities for executive staff and program managers. The incumbent will also supervise support staff.
Additional Comments Appointment is subject to Division of Budget waiver approval.
