Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled journey-level position which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprentice training in a trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade at a school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis.
The ideal candidate will also possess basic skills in carpentry and electrical.
Duties Description Repair and maintain buildings and other structures. Operate and complete routine maintenance on various pieces of construction equipment. Supervise and assign jobs for crews and oversee the work being done by contractors. Purchase supplies and materials in accordance with Department policy and procedures. Complete daily reports. Operate heavy equipment.
Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and/or work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel and overtime may be required. Must have a valid Class B CDL within 6 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements. Will be subject to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act
(OTETA) of 1991, which requires employee testing for drug and alcohol abuse. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
Overnight travel may be required for state sponsored activities. This position is funded through 3/31/20, with a possibility of continuing after that date. Actual work schedule and hours may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
