Salary RangeFrom $53568 to $68192 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Permanent service as a Senior Recreation Therapist in a New York State agency eligible for transfer OR At least one year of permanent service in a title eligible for 70.1 transfer pursuant to Civil Service Law OR Reachable on the current New York State Civil Service list for Senior Recreation Therapist.
PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT:
Must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as follows:
• Recreation Therapist
• Recreation Therapist (Spanish Language)
• Recreation Therapist (Art)
• Recreation Therapist (Dance) OR
• Recreation Therapist (Music)
Duties Description Under the supervision of the Treatment Team Leader, the incumbent will be responsible for:
•Provide recreation and leisure activities as well as direct treatment services.
•Will coordinate and facilitate participation in a variety of recreation activities.
•Will be a consultant in their specialty for treatment programming and evaluation.
•Will train and supervise subordinate professional and paraprofessional staff in recreational and inclusionary activities.
•Will be required to develop and coordinate inclusion opportunities for individuals and coordinate and oversee documentation of the inclusion activities for all individuals in the unit as per ICF regulations.
•In accordance with Active Treatment plans and people’s interests and needs, will conduct activities, review and evaluate program effectiveness, and recommend changes or specialized activities as required.
•Oversee direct care staff in providing recreational opportunities by providing training on various techniques and valued outcomes of recreation programs and by direct participation in service delivery.
•Prepare annual assessments, interest surveys, and review paperwork. Attend and participate in annual and quarterly reviews and special meetings as full member of interdisciplinary team.
•Seek and explore new activities and events in the community to provide inclusion. Maintain existing connections and consistently seek new connections networking in the local communities.
•Complete recreation assessments as required per ICF regulations.
•Develop weekly recreation schedules.
•Schedule and participate in the community inclusion activities.
•Will on occasion accompany individuals on trips which may require working on late and some weekends.
•Other Duties as assigned.
Additional Comments *If you are appointed provisionally, you must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title and your score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before you can be permanently appointed. If you do not pass the examination or achieved a reachable score, you may not be retained*
