Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must currently be reachable on the Information Technology Specialist 3, SG-23, Civil Service eligible list OR be eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
52.6 Transfer
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a qualifying title allocated to a salary grade 21 or higher.
Duties Description • Keep systems current with DB2 upgrades, maintenance, etc.
• Troubleshoot issues to ensure timely resolution for customers.
• Implement proper database design, backups, statistics, tablespace/index reorganizations, data movement, monitoring, etc.
• Prioritize assignments to ensure timelines are met.
• Preparation and review of complex technical requirements written to ensure requirements will be fully met.
• Serve on various committees related to IT and/or user requirements.
• Assist bureau management with research and special projects.
• Create and review software and procedural documentation.
Additional Comments Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Demonstrated experience in IBM DB2 (1 year to less than 2 years).
• Demonstrated experience in upgrading and applying maintenance of DB2 databases.
• Demonstrated experience with IBM mainframe (z/OS, MVS, TSO, ISPF).
• Demonstrated strong troubleshooting and analytical skills in a mainframe DB2 environment.
• Demonstrated experience in the facilitation of discussions with all levels of staff within the user community. These discussions should include the gathering of requirements, establishment of priorities, and negotiation of realistic goals.
