Minimum Qualifications Must be reachable on current Civil Service, Payroll Examiner 2, SG-15 list or currently hold the title of Payroll Examiner 2, SG-15 or a title from which transfer is appropriate.
Duties Description Responsibility for preparation, review and submission of the College’s Main, Graduate Assistant, Scholarship, College Work Study, Student Assistant and payrolls. At any given time, the College has roughly, 450 on the Main payroll, 150 on the Graduate payroll, 150 on the College Work Study Payroll, 160 on the Student Assistant payroll. A summary of the responsibilities of this position include:
• Maintain comprehensive working knowledge of the State (PayServ, HRMS, SUNY, NYSTEP, TIMA, TAS) computerized payroll and time and attendance systems, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of the Research Foundation (ORACLE) computerized payroll system for both data entry and informational access.
• Interpret and apply policies, bulletins, rules and regulations issued by the Office of the State Comptroller, the Department of Civil Service, and the Division of the Budget
• Carry out tasks in a timely, efficient and accurate manner under the pressure of a deadline driven workload while maintaining excellent customer service.
• Review, submit and maintain the Time and Attendance system and leave accruals for all state.
• Communicates regularly with administrators, Human Resources, faculty, staff and students as well as external agencies both verbally and in writing.
• Incumbents are considered technical experts in payroll processing using several different databases.
• Oversee operational needs of the Payroll office, including customer service, campus payroll records and resource allocation.
