Minimum Qualifications Open to current NYS employees with one year of service in an Economic Development Program Specialist 2 position and to those reachable on the Economic Development Program Specialist 2 eligible list. No need to apply if on this list, we are canvassing all list candidates.
Duties Description Under the general direction of the Vice President of Global NY, the incumbent in this Economic Development Program Specialist 2 (EDPS2) position will be responsible for providing Global NY Division Services in the Long Island Region and potentially other suburbs of New York City, working in coordination with Empire State Development’s regional offices.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Originate and manage Global NY projects that will increase the number of small businesses that begin to export
• Increase the value of exports for small businesses that currently export
• Increase the number of small businesses exploring significant new trade opportunities
• Organize and participate on site visits and handle outreach of visitors seeking assistance in conducting business internationally
• Compile economic /business development information needed for program management and client service delivery within the scope of Global NY initiatives
• Work with the Empire State Development foreign offices to recruit companies for state led trade shows and trade missions
• Ensure timely completion of Export Marketing Assistance Services projects
• Prepare specialized information on incentives and other economic development tools specifically tailored to facilitate client business development
• Work closely with community leaders to form and promote local business/trade/tourism development strategies
• Recommend strategies and/or policies for business attraction/retention in NYS
• Assist with program development and serve on committees and special task forces as required
• Identify NY-based businesses’ circumstances and their related needs
• Serve as the point of contact for agency’s clients and assist as necessary
• Address requests from the Vice President and/or the Executive Chamber
• Prepare/Submit biweekly progress summaries
• Participate during staff meetings
• Mentor junior staff
• Travel required- 5%
Additional Comments SALARY RANGE: $73,284 - $92,693 (plus $3,026 location pay)
