Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be reachable for appointment on Current Civil Service Eligible List for this title.
OR
Candidates must have permanent competitive status as an Office Assistant 3 (Calculations) and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades.
Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) provides high-quality, person-centered services, supports and advocacy to individuals with developmental disabilities in New York State. The Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) Division of Enterprise Solutions is seeking a person to work as an Office Assistant 3 (Calc) to assist Revenue Support Field Operations (RSFO). RSFO is part of a team responsible for securing financial benefits, including Medicaid, for the individuals residing in state and voluntary operations. The OA 3 (Calc) will perform advanced clerical support activities requiring extreme attention to detail and independent decision making.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As an Office Assistant 3 (Calculations) the responsibilities of the incumbent may include, but are not limited to the following:
• Maintain basic financial, demographic and/or statistical records
• Prepare, process, review and record numerical transactions and records
• Perform data entry and other transactions in a proprietary database and various Medicaid systems to insure individuals’ Medicaid and other financial benefits are developed and maintained on a timely basis
• Contact various internal and external parties to obtain information
• Act as subject matter expert and provide advice to field office staff on assigned subjects
• Review and update public information on Medicaid and other financial benefits
• Provide advice to and otherwise assist supervisors in planning, organizing, scheduling and coordinating work operations
• Create and update work procedures
• Serve as a supervisor and/or serve as the principal assistant to a higher-level position
• Assign work to staff, schedule work flow, establish work performance standards, review work performance and production, and determine the nature of problems and take corrective action
• Complete, supervise or assist with various local and statewide projects as directed by supervisor
