Minimum Qualifications Candidates must possess a New York State Professional Engineer License and current registration. In order to be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.
Duties Description This position is highly technical in nature and requires a strong knowledge of Project Management principals and Oracle Primavera P6 software. Key duties and responsibilities include:
• Administration of P6 project schedules for Capital Program projects in Planning and Design, including data integration with other enterprise systems (Site Manager, OPPM)
• Management and administration of Oracle Primavera P6 and Team Member applications
• Provide support and guidance to Regional Planning and Design staff on the implementation and use of Oracle Primavera P6 scheduling software
• Work collaboratively with members of the PMO and Regional P6 Administrators to monitor the compliance of project management policy
• Develop, update, and/or review policies, procedures, guidance, and training manuals related to project management to ensure consistency with NYSDOT’s Project Development Manual and other Department official manuals
• Communicate project management policies & guidance to end users and stakeholders
• Analyze and perform detailed review of Primavera P6 schedules for priority projects, both Design Build and Best Value
Additional opportunities within the Project Management Office could include:
• Design Build & Best Value experience by assisting PMO staff with the development of Request for Qualification (RFQ) and Request for Proposal (RFP) documents, as well as Best Value Special Notes and other contract provisions
• Represent the Project Management Office in a variety of work teams to develop and improve program and project management policies, procedures, guidance, and manuals
• Management experience overseeing consultants working on behalf of the PMO to accomplish mission critical work
• Coordination with the Office of Information Technology Systems in managing software applications that support the Project Management Office
• Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the Department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
