Minimum Qualifications Permanent service in this title or one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-12 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law.
Duties Description The duties of the Office Assistant 3 will include, but will not be limited to:
• Supervising Office Assistants 2 who are responsible for, among other duties, answering the 800, Law Enforcement and main SOR phone lines; verifying and updating offender address changes; assisting national Registry staff to update offender data and obtaining information to determine if registration is required in NYS; and reviewing submitted materials from camp and day care organizations for completeness;
• Managing the student intern program within the SOR, which includes overseeing the student intern staff tasked with verifying and indexing documents for the Sex Offender Registry;
• Reviewing incoming work related to Registry documents, assigning work to staff, and scheduling work flow;
• Creating and maintaining staff schedules as required to meet the mandatory two business day processing time required by law for address changes submitted by offenders;
• Defining priorities needed to meet SOR goals; monitoring staff productivity and quality requirements, and following up with staff on performance issues as needed;
• Providing technical, process, and procedure training regarding the Sex Offender Registry to subordinate staff;
• Coordinating user acceptance testing for system implementations of the Sex Offender Management system;
• Participating in the interview and selection process for hiring new staff; and
• Overseeing or completing special projects as needed.
Additional Comments Appointment is subject to Division of Budget waiver approval.
