Minimum Qualifications Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, OR Reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list.
**Candidate must possess current registration as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in New York State. Candidate must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs. Failure to maintain certification and Medicaid/Medicare eligibility will result in the termination of employment.

Duties Description The incumbent will supervise a multi-disciplinary team providing treatment services to alcohol and substance abuse disordered patients with co-occurring mental health disorders. The incumbent will carry out such tasks as, but not limited to the following:

• Lead and direct the Case Management team, including the direct supervision of staff on day shift and transition shift;

• Oversee performance of Case Management activities, including carrying own caseload of 1-2 patients;

• Assist in development and implementation of individualized patient treatment plans;

• Provide individual and group counseling and large psycho-educational groups;

• Document patient’s progress in treatment appropriately;

• Supervise and provide consultation in development of discharge plans specific to patient needs;

• Manage case review process and schedule quarterly case reviews;

• Organize a daily schedule and assign staff to ensure patient care activities are carried out, address and follow up with emerging clinical issues, back primary counseling groups and all other groups/activities;

• Work with the Assistant Director in developing, modifying, and scheduling clinical services and activities

• Participate in activities to improve patient care and facility operations

• Transport patients using NYS vehicles;

• Participate as an active member of the Leadership Committee and other committees and workgroups to provide input on quality improvement and programming

• Coordinate with the Assistant Director to ensure full compliance for OASAS Certification reviews

• Monitor clinical record-keeping to ensure assessments, treatment plans and progress notes are up-to-date, including working with insurance companies as needed;

• Work with Assistant Director in developing, modifying, and scheduling clinical services and activities

• Other duties as assigned.

All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees. 3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees may be required to pay any necessary fees. Additionally, prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.
