Minimum Qualifications Candidates must possess a license to practice medicine in New York State; certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology; two years of post–residency experience in an academic or research setting designing and/or conducting research studies; and eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred: The ideal candidate must have:

• A doctorate degree and a minimum of 5 years post-doctoral experience in the field of bioinformatics.
• Advanced expertise in bioinformatics with specific skills in the analysis and interpretation of gene expression data and clinical genomics.

Other relevant experience would include:

• Must be capable of supervising data analysts and consulting to the design and analysis of large research projects.
• A track record of successful competition for federal funding.

Duties Description The primary responsibility of the incumbent will be to support the bioinformatics needs of the Center for Dementia Research at NKI. The person in this position will be expected to contribute to grant proposals and to the analysis and interpretation of data from both pilot and funded projects. The person will also supervise data analysts and will consult to investigators at NKI regarding bioinformatics issues for grants and publications. The incumbent will work closely with multiple investigators in designing projects, analyzing results, training junior investigators, and advising NKI leadership regarding strategic approaches to the utilization of emerging scientific methods.

Additional Comments Background Investigation/Justice Center Review: Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable. 2) Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees. 3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees may be required to pay any necessary fees. Additionally, prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.
