Minimum Qualifications EITHER: 1) Reachable on the Civil Service eligible list; OR 2) Eligible for reassignment by virtue of having permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 (SG-18); OR 3) Eligible for transfer under the provisions of the Civil Service Law by virtue of having one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title.

Duties Description The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking an Information Technology Specialist 2 to work all software and web development within the Business Solution Section of the Information Technology bureau. The incumbent will work within the application development team of Business Solutions.

DUTIES:
• Build and maintain applications for Business Solutions using Java or approved technologies.
• Assist in maintaining public web site.
• Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices
• Work with Business Analysts to gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs
• Create complex SQL queries to extract data to meet user specifications.
• Create and implement test scripts and test plans for applications.
• Interact with end-users and other IT staff to troubleshoot problems. Assist with user training and support. Develop and/or modify application technical and end-user documentation. Performance testing and remediation of business applications
• Accessibility testing and remediation of applications and websites
• Develop and implement test plans for new or upgraded systems. Supervise subordinate staff including contract employees.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in JAVA, XML, HTML, CSS, JSP.
• Experience with web services technologies.
• Experience working with a Relational DBMS, preferably ORACLE SQL and PL/SQL.
• Advanced Testing and Debugging skills
• Maintenance of production websites and applications
• Familiarity with website accessibility
• Exceptional Communication Skills
• Experience developing or maintaining PeopleSoft applications
• Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines
• Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse technologies and techniques.
• Experience interacting with end users in a user support role.

Availability to work nights and weekends required. Travel may be required outside of the Albany area, including NYC.
