Minimum Qualifications There are no education or experience qualifications for this class.
Applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and be able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions.

Preferred Qualifications: chainsaw certification, CPR/AED/First Aid certification.

Duties Description Perform a variety of routine manual tasks requiring medium to heavy physical effort, assist in maintaining, constructing and repairing buildings, roads, offices, other structures, furniture, facilities and grounds. May also assist in performing routine activities using a forklift, pallet jacks, power tools, dollies and hand trucks. Will be required to clean work areas, clean and lubricate mechanical and electrical equipment and assist in operating heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment; operate and maintain motorized equipment and machinery; and answer simple questions, such as the time and place of events, directions and general information about facilities, usage and facility rules and regulations. May lead volunteers assigned to work crews, load and unload heavy equipment, supplies and furniture from trucks by physically lifting items or operating a hand truck. Must be able, where applicable, to do manual work such as picking up litter, raking, pushing lawnmowers, zero turn riding mower, weed-trimmer, snow blowing, snow plowing, digging ditches, climbing roofs to do repairs, cleaning restrooms and buildings. Extra physical work may be required, such as operating a chainsaw, running a chipper or aiding in removing brush and/or firewood.

Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and/or work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel and overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds.

This is a temporary position with a duration of 12/1/19 through 3/31/20. Program needs will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to termination date indicated. Actual work schedule may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
