Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be employed by New York State to be eligible to apply for this position.

Internal Reassignment: Candidates must be current Office of Mental Health employee with permanent or contingent-permanent service as a Mental Health Program Specialist 2 and interested in reassignment.

OR

Transfer: Candidates must be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law by having at least one year of permanent service in a qualifying title within two salary grades of the Grade 23 level.

Duties Description The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) is currently recruiting to fill a Mental Health Program Specialist 2, Grade 23, position in the New York City Field Office. The incumbent will work with the New York City Field Office Housing Unit staff to assist with the implementation of the Adult Home Settlement Agreement, which provides affordable, integrated, permanent housing for persons with mental illness living in an impacted adult home. Specific duties to be performed may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Monitor scattered site supportive housing to ensure compliance with OMH program and fiscal guidelines with respect to the adult home and nursing home initiatives.

Provide technical assistance and training to housing providers around the adult home and nursing home settlement agreements.

Oversee in-reach and assessment activities and address consumer complaints related to housing.

Provide oversight of new residential development to ensure successful placement into housing, including problem solving on individual cases as needed.

Conduct supportive housing reviews and proposals related to adult home initiative.

Facilitate the transition of persons with mental illness from adult homes and nursing homes into community based housing and services.

Represent OMH at meetings with non-profit agencies, other government entities and advocacy organizations.

Participate in special projects, as assigned.
