Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must currently be reachable on the Office Assistant 2 Calculations eligible list or eligible to transfer under section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

To be eligible for a 70.1 transfer, an individual must be a current New York State Employee and have one year of permanent competitive service in a qualifying transferable title allocated to a salary grade 7 or above.
Duties Description • Reconcile/verify that all Local and State data rows are loaded in source data or error table:
o Reconcile and verify that all Local file data accepted by PS is accounted for in Source Data or Improper withholdings. Reconcile and verify that all State Payroll rows are accounted for in one of the tables: source data, file level errors, business level errors or Improper withholding. Analyze salary data related to the above. Analyze and research Employer Reporting exceptions.
• Analysis and research of refunds, adjustments, validations done outside of PS:
o Verify the correctness of validations done by Reporting staff as directed by supervisor to ensure that source data is accurate in both amount and reporting period. Research errors as they occur, and correct them as necessary.
• Special Assignments:
o In addition to the duties listed above, the Clerk 2 is asked to make phone calls to employers whose reports are late, key monthly and adjustment reports on line when deadlines require immediate action, assist in training new employees in the unit. Assist OA 3 Calculations with annual Employer Billing processes if needed.

• Ability to set up and use manual and electronic office record keeping and filing systems.
• Ability to enter and retrieve data using an alphanumeric keyboard.
• Ability to prepare reports.
• Ability to read, understand and apply laws, procedures, rules, regulations and guidelines where there are not clear precedents and without detailed direction.
• Ability to perform tasks accurately within prescribed time frames.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
