For some titles you may also be required to have additional college credits in appropriate courses. Also any language parenthetic for the above titles. 55-b/55-c Candidates must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications below and include with their resume or application, a copy of the letter from Civil Service which indicates approval for the 55-b/55-c program.
Open competitive minimum qualifications (provided for 55b/c candidates and 70.4 transfer eligibles): A bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 24 semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing courses.
Duties Description Under direction of the Unit Supervisor, the incumbent of this position will be responsible for various functions which support the Bureau of Revenue Accounting. The candidate will coordinate all billings with various programs through our Oracle based Financial Management Information System. All billing information must be reviewed to verify it is complete, correct and processed timely. This position will involve extensive phone conversations with the public concerning their NYSDEC billings. The candidate will need to perform collection activities on overdue accounts and work with the various programs regarding collections and any invoice dispute resolution. The candidate will be responsible for sending uncollected accounts to the Attorney General’s office. All collection activity must be tracked and monitored to ensure timely submission of overdue accounts. The candidate will reconcile all payments made both by check and electronically to insure the payments are accounted for accurately. This position will also involve reviewing our daily lockbox deposits to make sure they are processed correctly and applied to the proper customer accounts. The candidate will work with the bank to resolve any issues concerning these deposits. The candidate must be highly accurate, organized and detail oriented; have the ability to learn and navigate new accounting software systems; have excellent verbal and written communication skills; be an intermediate user of both Microsoft Excel and Word; have the ability to multi-task among various projects as needed; be committed to providing exceptional customer service; and, have the ability to maintain good working relationships with co-workers and the general public.
