Minimum Qualifications Candidates must possess a New York State Professional Engineer License and current registration. To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law
Duties Description Incumbents perform a variety of duties depending on assignment. Professional Engineer 1's are found throughout DOT in a variety of programs. The responsibilities include the following: Serve as an Engineer-In-Charge (or as a State Representative on a local let project) on one or more construction projects; manage construction inspection activities and the use of consultants; ensure adherence to Federal, State and Local laws, rules and regulations; ensure the safety of construction workers, inspection staff and the traveling public, ensure the quality of materials and workmanship incorporated in Department projects. Overnight stay, night work and weekend work may be required. Responsibilities will include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations. Other duties will be discussed at the time of the interview.
