Duties Description Under the general direction of the Director of Treasury Operations, the Associate Accountant will use professional knowledge and application of accounting principles and practices to manage the activities of the Cash Management and Investment Unit within the Division of the Treasury. Knowledge of the Statewide Financial System is preferred.
Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
• Identify key workload indicators, including the scope, complexity, and critical deadlines for completion of various staff activities, and the resources necessary to support assignments.
• Oversee daily and monthly unit tasks, including releasing payments from the State’s general checking account, collateralizing balances and processing disbursement requests for various State accounts, and investing funds that are not needed for immediate disbursement for various State accounts. Ensure tasks are done efficiently, accurately and timely.
• Oversee and perform daily and monthly reconciliations.
• Develop and oversee implementation of any necessary modifications to Cash Management and Investment Unit procedures as a result of changes to the State’s banking processes, policies or systems.
• Work closely with State agencies and other Treasury customers to complete daily operational tasks as well as future projects, such as updates to the Statewide Financial System and efforts to improve existing processes.
• Maintain oversight of staff assignments and the quality and efficiency of activities. Provide direction to staff on work flow or staff performance issues, and facilitate cross-training and skill development. As necessary, implement corrective actions to maximize the operations of the units or to correct observed problems.
• Adhere to the Department’s time and attendance rules and regulations.
Additional Comments This position is at Treasury's downtown offices, located at 110 State Street, Albany, NY. Parking may be available at the Office of General Service's peripheral parking lots.
