Minimum Qualifications To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.
Duties Description The Aviation Bureau is looking to fill an Intermodal Transportation Specialist 2 position to assist with various aviation planning and airport management functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for functions that include, but are not limited to:
• Managing aviation planning studies;
• Oversee consultant firms conducting planning studies;
• Assist with the management of airport leases;
• Assist in the review and scoring of Aviation Capital Improvement Grant Program applications;
• Assist in the oversight and development of the aviation grant program;
• Conduct statistical analyses and writing reports on aviation industry trends (e.g. air fares, passenger boardings, flight statistics, airport counts);
• Conduct statistical analyses of funding programs;
• Provide advice to management and airports regarding federal aviation programs including the Airport Improvement Program (AIP), Essential Air Service Program (EAS) and Small communities air Service Development Programs (SCASDP); and
• Manage the Bureau’s databases.
Guidance and training will be provided as needed on airport/aviation planning principles and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules and regulations as appropriate.
This position may involve supervision of one or more staff. Occasional travel, less than 5%, may be required in connection with these duties.
Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the Department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
