PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of Nursing Home LTCSP surveillance process and State and Federal Laws and Regulations; strong leadership, critical thinking skills and problem solving with the ability to communicate and motivate professional staff in a team setting. experience with staff training/staff development and QI/QA projects; excellent investigative skills, strong computer, written and organizational skills; ability to function independently; ability to prioritize and address multiple tasks and responsibilities; Surveyor Minimum Qualification Test (SMQT) certified.

Duties Description As a Health Systems Specialist 3, you may supervise and or train one or more nursing home Surveillance teams, consisting of medical professionals, while performing surveillance activities for the long-term care health facilities. You may participate as a team member in the surveillance activity to supplement the surveillance team at times. Review and write statement of deficiencies and other reports and documents written on surveillance activities. Provide and assist statewide trainer with education and training of staff and ensure QA/QI process are being followed while on the survey.

Additional Comments Permanent or Provisional, pending exam, full time. Travel is required, including travel to some areas not served by public transportation. ***If three or fewer NYS DOH promotional candidates respond to this notice, the agency may, at its discretion, nominate a qualified employee for non-competitive promotion under the provisions of Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law. Employees must have one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service as listed above. In addition, the agency, also at its discretion, has the option under Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law to consider only candidates qualifying under promotion described above. If certified by Civil Service, mandatory reemployment list candidates must be considered first for appointment to this title.
