Minimum Qualifications 1. Permanent service as a Dietitian 2
OR
2. Eligible to 70.1 transfer to a Dietitian 2 title AND (1. currently registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a Registered Dietitian OR 2. have NYS Education Department certification in dietetics-nutrition
AND have completed a minimum of an additional 400 hours* of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of a RD).
3. Reachable on the Civil Service list for Dietitian 2.
Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Nutritional evaluations and assessments based on the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) in order to ensure the health of the individual.
• Monitor the nutritional care of individuals with tube feedings, renal disease, as well as other nutritionally related matters.
• Hold regularly scheduled sessions with individuals with a goal to improve nutritional knowledge and understanding as well as nutritional status and overall health
• Participate in Feeding and Swallowing evaluations, as an essential member of the integrated feeding, eating and swallowing team (IFEAST).
• Facilitate the training, understanding and implementation of the Choking Prevention Initiative (CPI)
• Perform regular meal observations
• Share the responsibility for teaching New Employee Orientation (NEO),
• Assist homes with menu planning.
• Staff training on diets, menu planning, food safety and sanitation.
• Provide nutrition care instruction to individuals and their families
• Ensure regulations related to nutrition are met and assist group homes with survey readiness.
• Other duties assigned appropriate to the title.
