Minimum Qualifications Promotion: one year of service as a Principal Psychologist, and possession of a license and current registration to practice psychology in New York State.
Duties Description As a Chief Psychologist in the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, the incumbent performs a wide range of professional, administrative and technical duties such as: oversees the operations of the Psychology Department and overall psychological services for the DDSOO. The Chief Psychologist is responsible for ensuring that best practices in the area of psychological services are followed, policies, procedures and internal controls are maintained, and that the effectiveness of psychological and behavioral programs are evaluated. The incumbent is responsible for the department’s adherence to the 633.16 regulatory guidance, including oversight committee involvement, as applicable, and ensuring that Behavior Support Plans, Medication Monitoring Plans, and Higher Risk Behavior Support Plans are clinically sound and aligned with regulations and policies. The Chief Psychologist provides clinical training and supervision to staff psychologists, as well as consultation on specific cases as needed. As required, may provide expert testimony in court with regards to eligibility, competency, retention and related matters.
• Responsible for staffing the Psychology Department and assigning psychologists based on service delivery needs.
• Oversees the forensic services for the district and directs initiatives pertaining to the department (e.g. Electronic Health Record)
as applicable.
• Conduct regular department meetings to communicative initiatives, policies, procedures, and other pertinent information to the
clinicians.
• Serves as a member on the Director’s Steering Committee.
• Serves as Administrator on Call (AOC) on a rotational basis.
• Other assignments, as determined by executive management.
