2. You must be currently certified by the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) The incumbent’s job duties will include but are not limited to the following AND have two years of full-time professional (post RHIT) health information management experience.

Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The person in this position will manage and maintain Health Records and oversee day-to-day Health Information Management assignments. This position is related to ensuring regulatory and policy compliance within the DDSOO, while ensuring the privacy of individuals and the integrity of the records within the DDSOO. They will implement and maintain systems for acquiring and preserving individuals’ medical records, they will supervise and train subordinate staff in facility medical records and health information management and will assist in the continued rollout and implementation of the Electronic Health Records initiative. They will develop a high level of understanding of the records systems that are used within OPWDD.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manages and oversees the day-to-day operations of the health information management assignments including serving as an expert in the Electronic Health Record System.
• Provides training, assists in the establishment of procedures, and helps implement initiatives related to the use, access and preservation of health information/clinical records.
• Supervises and provides guidance to subordinate staff as assigned; approves leave and tracks time and attendance; completes performance evaluations; and identifies training needs and arranges for the provision of training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
