Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled journey-level position which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprentice training in a trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade at a school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis.

Duties Description The position requires basic knowledge and understanding of primary electrical distribution and journey-level knowledge of secondary voltages and wiring. Work projects can be residential, commercial, industrial mechanical and industrial controls. Will be required to maintain, diagnose and repair generators, solar and battery inverter systems. Experience with lift stations and water wells is beneficial.

The position also requires maintenance and construction work in many others areas. Candidate must have a strong knowledge in the building trades including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, masonry and excavation. The candidate must have the capability to read blue prints. The position requires experience with building codes and regulations. The candidate must have the ability estimate project cost consisting of material list and labor. Job requires purchasing of materials as per NYS procurement policies. Position requires working independently as well as part of a work crew. Candidate may be required to lead a work crew on an aspect of a project.

Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and/or work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel and overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response.

This position is funded through 3/31/20, with a likelihood of continuing after that date. Actual work schedule and hours may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
