Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Eligible to 70.1 transfer to a Training Specialist 1 title, OR;
2. Permanent service as a Training Specialist 1, OR;
3. Reachable on the current Civil Service List or eligible for provisional appointment pending exam. You must take a pass a Civil Service Examination in order to be considered for this position. There are two examinations held for this position. Please note: New York State employees may qualify for both. For qualified employees of New York State the examination is called PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION TRAINEESHIP TRANSITION PROGRAM (PATT). For all other qualified individuals, the examination used to fill this position is called Professional Career Opportunities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate should possess excellent communication skills, be organized and have experience in public speaking. Active trainer status is preferred.

Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:
• Presents and/or oversees delivery of standardized Agency Training courses for OPWDD staff as appropriate.
• Assists with development of specialized training programs to meet identified needs by determining course content and method of presentation and obtaining training materials
• Present training on a wide variety of topics and programs using targeted training methods, equipment, and media.
• Co facilitate and help develop Direct Support Staff and Supervisory staff to meet the needs of the Agency Mission.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordination of New Employee Orientation training program including the creation and distribution of Prescriptive Training Checklists, providing updates as needed.
• Development and presentation of Standardized Agency Training courses for OPWDD staff.
• Traineeship Coordination including collection of trainee evaluations and reporting of their status as well as tracking of other required documentation.
• Participation on Statewide training development work groups as required
• Instructor Trainer for Promote
• Instructor for CPR/FA
• GOER Instructor certification and delivery of GOER classes at least twice annually, traveling as required.
• Act as training department liaison as assigned, assisting with training and training compliance.
• Supervision of paraprofessional staff as required.
