Minimum Qualifications Requirements:
•A Masters degree in a relevant mental health field
•Counseling experience with at least five years of progressively responsible, and relevant administrative experience in a mental health care setting/program.
•Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, developing and implementing policies and procedures, budget planning and managing resources, and report writing.
•Supervisory and leadership experience with the ability to build effective teams.
•High level of personal and professional integrity, a strong sense of ethics, and respect for privacy and confidentiality
•Demonstrated commitment to customer satisfaction, diversity, equity and inclusion, and a strong work ethic.
•Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work in a complex and fast-paced environment.

Preferred qualifications include:
•Ph.D in counseling/clinical psychology, counseling, or equivalent
•Clinical background in the mental health field with a license to practice in New York State.
•Experience in a higher education setting.
•Experience with Title IX
•Knowledge and experience in mental health and wellness services.
•Experience with managing clinical delivery models including clinical flow, trend analysis, and scheduling.

Duties Description Job Description:


SUNY Delhi seeks applications for the position of full-time Director of Counseling who will direct the counseling services function, which includes providing direct service, outreach, and consultation to students enrolled at SUNY Delhi. Assessment, evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts are an important component of the position. Applicants should be team-oriented with the ability and interest in developing collaborations with areas within Student Life, the greater campus, and the local community. Incumbent must have keen problem solving and critical thinking skills, as well as proficiency in oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, public speaking, and leading group discussions.

The Director of Counseling will serve on the campus crisis team and is responsible for handling emergency and crisis situations that pertain to students and campus life. The ability to effectively manage a crisis with sensitivity is essential. As the Deputy Title IX Coordinator, the Director of Counseling will be a point of contact for students who want to talk about issues of harassment, discrimination, and sexual misconduct.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Providing individual and group counseling to SUNY Delhi students
•Serving as an advocate, resource person for students.
•Overseeing and providing training to the campus community as it pertains to wellness and mental health.
•Providing consultation to faculty and staff with concerns regarding student issues
•Coordinating the student leave of absence and withdrawal process
