Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must be reachable for appointment on the current Civil Service eligible list for the title;

OR

Transfer Opportunity:
Candidates must have one year of permanent service as an Office Assistant 2 and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. In order to be eligible for 70.1 transfer, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a qualifying title within two salary grades of the Grade 9 level.

OR

Provisional Opportunity:
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 5 or higher.

Candidates appointed provisionally must take the next Civil Service examination for this title and their score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before they can be permanently appointed. Candidates who do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score may not be retained

Duties Description 1. Duties include the evaluation of quotations, preferred sources, and OGS state contracts for the processing of requisitions in to purchase orders. Processing requisitions into purchase orders by assigning appropriate codes, encumbering department funds, soliciting vendors through written price quotations. Ensuring correct information is input on the purchase orders, descriptions are clear and concise and that all quantities and extensions are correct. The proper distribution of purchase order information to appropriate departments or entities is required.

2. Responsible for being familiar with commodities and services available from state contracts and all Preferred Sources (i.e.: Dept. of Correctional Services, Industries for the Disabled, etc.), and making use of these vendors appropriately. Responsible for being familiar with sources of supply for requested non-contract items that fall within assigned accounts.

3. Ensuring that Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprises are included in competitive quotations when possible.
