Minimum Qualifications • At least ten (10) years of legal experience, including trial and/or complex civil litigation experience;
• Superb legal analysis, legal writing and editing, and oral advocacy skills;
• Outstanding project management, organizational, interpersonal communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills;
• Excellent technological skills, including knowledge of and experience with various computer software programs and case management and electronic discovery platforms;
• Prior government experience is preferred; and
• Prior experience supervising, coaching and/or mentoring attorneys and support staff is also preferred.
Applicants must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York State and be admitted to practice law in New York State. In addition, the Public Officers Law requires that attorneys in the Office be citizens of the United States. A two (2) year commitment upon being hired is a condition of employment.

Duties Description The New York State Office of the Attorney General is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as Senior Counsel for the Division of Economic Justice. The Division is comprised of five litigation Bureaus: Antitrust, Consumer Frauds, Internet and Technology, Taxpayer Protection, and Investor Protection. The Division is responsible for enforcing New York’s Martin Act to protect investors and combatting consumer financial frauds. In addition, the Division is currently leading antitrust investigations into various large technology platforms.
The Senior Counsel will report directly to the Chief Deputy Attorney General (CDAG) for Economic Justice and serve as a chief advisor, assisting the CDAG in leading the Division.
The Senior Counsel’s duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
• Identify areas ripe for creative affirmative enforcement and litigation, including multi-state impact litigation brought by state attorneys general;
• Assist the CDAG with the management and oversight of the Division’s docket and daily operations;
• Liaise regularly with DEJ’s Bureau Chiefs, managers and attorneys on active matters and provide legal and strategic support as needed;
• Review, recommend and implement changes to the DEJ’s workflows and tracking mechanisms to ensure a consistency of practice across the Division and the effective and efficient disposition of matters;
• Oversee and expand DEJ’s professional development programming, including providing opportunities for staff training and mentorship; and
• Initiate, organize and coordinate complex investigations and other special projects.
