Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries; marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.
Preferred Qualifications:

Duties Description Incumbent will work as the technician for the regional Migratory Game Bird program. Duties involve scouting for goose and duck banding sites, making landowner contacts and securing permission from landowners, and assisting with capturing and banding geese and ducks. Incumbent will assist with breeding waterfowl surveys and will enter and proof banding data. Incumbent will assist with implementation of DEC's Mute Swan Management Plan. Incumbent will participate in rotating phone coverage for the wildlife unit. As time and opportunity permits, incumbent will assist with other regional wildlife tasks and duties, including extension activities and nuisance wildlife response. Must be available for field work with may occur before dawn and after dark.

Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and/or work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds.

Seasonal, hourly appointment beginning 4/1/2020 and ending no later than 9/30/20. Position is currently subject to funding. Program needs will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to 9/30/20. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the time of an interview.
