Minimum Qualifications Current NYS Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive status as a Health Program Administrator 1 (G23) OR a NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a title at or above a (G21) and deemed eligible for transfer to Health Program Administrator 1 (G23) under Section 70.1 or Section 52.6 of the NYS Civil Service Law.
Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate would have experience in computer system development and maintenance, user acceptance testing, end user training, and knowledge of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program state and federal regulations. Excellent communication, organizational skills, and prior supervisory experience are essential.
Duties Description The Bureau of Supplemental Food Programs (BSFP) administers the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) and the Farmers Market Nutrition Program. As a member of the Information Systems Management Section (ISMS) team in BSFP, the Health Program Administrator 1 is responsible for coordinating the maintenance and testing of the MIS system, NYWIC, as well as other applications used in conjunction with NYWIC. The HPA1 serves as a liaison with contractors, stakeholders, and other BSFP staff who are part of the testing team.
Additional activities include participating or leading workgroups, developing/revising policies and procedures to comply with system changes, supervising professional and para-professional staff and preparing written and verbal communications for WIC local agency and Department of Health staff. Written materials may include memos, training material and PowerPoint presentations. Verbal communication may include technical assistance and conducting presentations. This position will supervise staff.
Additional Comments Contingent-permanent, full-time appointment. Occasional Statewide travel, including to areas that may not be served by public transportation, may be required.
