Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Keyboarding proficiency is a minimum requirement of this position. Candidates who have not previously held a keyboarding title must pass a 5-minute typing session with a speed of 30 words per minute with at least 96% accuracy.
Candidates appointed to the Trainee 1 level must complete four mandatory courses to advance to the trainee 2 level. Candidates appointed to the Trainee 2 level must complete four elective courses in order to advance to full title, Administrative Assistant
1. The courses are offered to CSEA and M/C employees through the New York State & CSEA Partnership. Equivalent coursework may be accepted in lieu of these courses as determined by the Department of Labor (DOL).
Candidates reachable on the Civil Service Eligible list(s) will be canvassed. However, you may also apply if you are eligible for appointment by one of the following qualifications:
70.1 TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS: One year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service as a Salary Grade 6 or higher determined to be similar by Civil Service.

Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES:
As an Administrative Assistant 1/Trainee 1/2 you will answer telephones, handle inquiries or direct inquiries to appropriate persons. Use various information technology applications such as email, database, and word processing. Operate office equipment such as printers, scanners, and copiers; and arranged for repairs when equipment malfunctions. Create, maintain, and enter information into databases, spreadsheets, etc. Compile and prepare weekly and periodic reports for TCC management and UID Administration.
