Salary RangeFrom $69603 to $88124 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Reachable on current Civil Service eligible list used for filling this title; one year of permanent, competitive class services as an Insurance Fund Hearing Representative; or, one year of permanent, competitive class service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Examples of eligible titles include: Auditor 2 Insurance Premium, Claims Services Representative 2, Claims Services Representative 2 (Disability Benefits), Insurance Fund Services Specialist 3, Investigator 3 Comp Claims, Policyholder Services Representative 2, Underwriter 2, Underwriter 2 (Disability Benefits).
Duties Description Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Prepares (through review of Claims Center, eCase, other databases with pertinent information and contacts witnesses) to represent the interest of the policyholder and NYSIF at the WCB hearings and depositions.
- Represents NYSIF’s position at hearings and depositions in accordance with established guidelines.
- Takes necessary action to defend, preserve and create a record of pertinent issues on behalf of the policyholder and NYSIF.
- Completes timely hearing report summaries with findings, awards, documentation of the proceedings and a plan for further litigation to limit liability including the when appropriate, the need for an appeal.
- Directs, coordinates and reviews necessary forms related to the hearing process.
- Negotiates agreements and Section 32 settlements within approved guidelines.
- Prepares requests for Appeals and Memos of Law.
- Participates in training of themselves and of co-workers to acquire new skills and knowledge applicable to the WC Law, case law and procedures.
- Mentors and trains Claims Services staff.
- Participates in settlement conferences.
