Minimum Qualifications Hours: Days M-F 8:30am-4:30pm with occasional nights, weekends and calls after normal business hours
PERMANENT
Minimum Qualifications:
• Reachable score on the Transportation Supervisor 1 list; or
• Have a current permanent appointment with 1 year of service as a Transportation Supervisor 1, or as a title eligible for transfer to Transportation Supervisor 1; or
• Be a former state employee eligible for reinstatement to the title of Transportation Supervisor 1
• May be filled from a mandatory reemployment list if one is in effect at the time of appointment
Operating Needs:
• Obtain CDL Class B with Passenger and Air Brakes endorsement as a condition of continued employment
• Obtain NYS DMV 19-A Certification as a condition of continued employment
• Ability to work occasional nights and weekends based on campus emergencies / events
• Ability to accept calls after normal business hours to receive, respond and act on complaints and reports of injuries
PROVISIONAL PENDING EXAM
Minimum Qualifications Promotional:
• Candidates must have one year of permanent non-competitive service as a Motor Vehicle Operator or Bus Driver
• Candidates must be eligible to take and pass the next available Transportation Supervisor 1 exam and obtain a reachable score for permanent appointment
Operating Needs:
• Obtain CDL Class B with Passenger and Air Brakes endorsement as a condition of continued employment
• Obtain NYS DMV 19-A Certification as a condition of continued employment
• Ability to work occasional nights and weekends based on department operating needs including campus emergencies / events
• Ability to accept calls after normal business hours to receive, respond and act on complaints and reports of injuries
Minimum Qualifications Open Competitive:
Candidates must be eligible to take and pass the next available Transportation Supervisor 1 exam and obtain a reachable score for permanent appointment
High school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma issued by an appropriate educational authority. Candidates must possess a New York State driver license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. In addition, candidates must meet one of the requirements listed below.
1. three (3) years of experience in the management or supervision of fleet operations or daily dispatching of motor vehicles from a pool of at least 30 vehicles; or
2. six (6) years of experience overseeing the maintenance of motor vehicles and keeping records and reports of that maintenance from a pool of at least 30 vehicles
Substitution: you may substitute a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma issued by an appropriate educational authority for two (2) years of the experience described in #1, or four (4) years of the experience described in #2.
