Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must be reachable on the Employees’ Retirement System Examiner 2, SG-12 eligible list or eligible to transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
70.1 Transfer:
To be eligible to transfer, interested candidates must have at least one-year of permanent competitive service in a qualifying title allocated to a salary grade 10 or higher.
Duties Description · Process enrollment, demographic and restoration cases:
Enrollment cases include not only new enrollments but add a person transactions, job data updates and reviewing employer submitted applications for discrepancies or inconsistencies. Demographic cases include name, address, gender, social security number and pre-retirement beneficiary changes. Restoration cases involve the evaluation of membership applications for returning retirees.
· State Payroll Transactions/Errors and State Payroll Social Security Project:
State Payroll Processing for the Enrollment Unit involves reviewing and correcting errors created from the front end processing file and the post processing file. The front end errors include unconverted data, file level and business lever errors that must be researched to determine if the transactions that failed should be processed. The post processing file errors must also be researched to determine if the transactions should be processed. Staff must also contact State Payroll and/or the State Agencies regarding the failed transactions. The state payroll social security project requires review of weekly social security queries generated from PayServ, to prevent the creation of dual memberships in Portal.
· Maintains Fax Room/Scans Documents to Alpha Files:
Receives incoming faxes and notes any errors or missing information on applications. Applications are then faxed back to employers requesting the missing information. Ensures fax room is organized. Scans and uploads documents to alpha files. Manages and distributes both paper documents and documents in the mail queue to appropriate units.
· Fields Employer Phone Calls:
Answers employers’ phone calls pertaining to new and subsequent enrollments, demographic updates and state payroll processing.
· Assist in the training of grade 6’s, 9’s and 12’s on section procedures:
Follows section training plan and monitors employees’ progress on a daily basis. Updates supervisor of employees’ progress.
· Performs Quality Assurance Review:
Ten percent of all enrollment and demographic cases are reviewed for quality assurance.
