Minimum Qualifications Required qualifications for the position of ACA are as follows:
• A Bachelor’s degree in a computing discipline and at least three years of Azure Cloud experience are required;
• At least six years of experience in Enterprise/Solution/Technical Architecture across multiple technologies and architecture domains – data, application, and integration—is also required;
• At least three years of experience in large scale cloud architecture, including migrating on-premise application to cloud or building cloud native application to the cloud;
• Proven ability architecting Azure infrastructure and PaaS services (firewall, VMs, Storage Accounts & Managed Disks, Backups, Site Recovery, App Gateways, Load Balancers, Network Security Groups, Active Directory, VNETs, PaaS database offerings, OMS, Data Factory, API Management Service);
• Proven design, planning and implementation experience with all infrastructure components including storage, network and compute technologies;
• Experience with large scale, complex enterprise integration systems in a high availability, high volume, performant environment;
• Experience with Azure Key Vault;
• Experience integrating Azure with other cloud systems;
• Understanding of cloud application design principles (microservices, 12-factor apps, stateless application meant for cloud, containers, etc.), clusters, distributed architecture; and
• Strong cloud security background with experience managing privileged data.

Preferred qualification for the position of ACA are as follows:
• Experience with O365 tenant architecture which includes, rollout, upgrade and support;
• Experience as a professional Windows System Administrator;
• Experience with Microsoft Identity Manager Management including Azure Directory;
• Experience with SSO including SAML;
• Strong experience with .NET/Java stack, SQL/No-SQL DB, Azure Cloud, Azure DevOps, PowerShell;
• Strong understanding of DevOps, infrastructure as code;
• Microsoft Site Reliability Engineering experience; and
• MCSE certification is a plus.


Duties Description The New York State Office of the Attorney General’s Information Technology Bureau (ITB) is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join its team as an Azure Cloud Architect (ACA). The ITB is responsible for all enterprise wide IT activities including on premise and cloud infrastructure and architecture, telecommunications, application development, practice technologies (eDiscovery), reengineering business processes, networks, outsourcing, and computer and auxiliary operations and support. The ITB provides for the sustained, efficient, and effective delivery of IT services ensuring that all OAG staff have access to the appropriate technologies, hardware, software, and a secure infrastructure necessary to complete their jobs, efficiently and productively. The Bureau continuously evaluates emerging technologies for applicability to business needs.

The ACA will provide strategic solutions architecture design and consultancy within infrastructure services cloud (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS) leveraging both existing and proposed cloud services within the OAG. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer and based out of the ITB’s Capital Region office, the ACA will intersect with the Business Solutions, Infrastructure and Operations, and Information Security Office teams to design, develop, and build an integrated view of the Azure architecture, using a repeatable approach, cohesive framework, and available industry standard techniques. This is a hands-on role that requires a long-term view of the OAG’s business needs and the willingness to deploy and implement recommended solutions.

Duties and responsibilities of the ACA will include but not be limited to the following:
• Architect and design applications that run on Azure cloud by providing technical expertise and guidance in cloud technologies;
• Work with stakeholder teams to champion the Azure services available and how they can enable the business to run more efficiently in Azure;
• Shepard migrations from on premise deployments to a public cloud environment;
• Work with the Architect and IT Teams to develop approaches for Azure cloud services;
• Develops models and plans for the implementation of the strategy, taking advantage of opportunities to improve business performance;
• Work with the Director of Business Solutions and the Director of Infrastructure and Operations on system analysis and application architecture for major initiatives;
• Work with the CISO on security system analysis and security architecture for major initiatives;
• Work with other IT teams to establish, design, and support an enterprise cloud architecture that provides the required capacity plans and Supports the long-term strategic goals for enterprise cloud technologies within the OAG; and
• Implement Azure cloud technology policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of storage appliances and stored data assets.

Additional Comments The salary for this position is $90,375-$111,316. The final salary will be determined after a complete evaluation of the selected candidate’s credentials.
