Duties Description The New York State Office of the Attorney General is seeking an experienced criminal prosecutor to serve as Bureau Chief (BC) of the newly created Office of Special Investigation (OSI). In June 2020, the New York State Legislature passed legislation codifying and expanding the Governor’s previous Executive Order, granting the OAG the jurisdiction to investigate and potentially prosecute incidents when a police officer or peace officer causes the death of a person. The BC position provides a unique and exciting opportunity to join OSI at the ground floor, to assemble a team of committed professionals, enhance transparency, strengthen public trust in the criminal justice system, and engage and collaborate with external stakeholders and partners.
Reporting to the Chief Deputy Attorney General for the Criminal Justice Division, the BC will lead a bureau comprised of experienced felony and homicide prosecutors and legal support staff, located at various OAG offices throughout the State. The BC will also partner with a team of detective investigators assigned to OSI. The BC will be based in New York City along with approximately half of the OSI bureau personnel. The position will require some travel.

We offer a comprehensive New York State benefits package, including paid leave, health, dental, vision and retirement benefits, and family-friendly policies. As an employee of the OAG, you will join a team of dedicated individuals who work to serve the people of our State.
