Reachable on current Civil Service list for this title or one year of permanent, competitive class service as Associate Actuary Casualty. On or before the date of filing your application, you must have all of the following:
- A bachelor's degree or higher; AND
- Successful completion of two examinations of the Casualty Actuarial Society; AND
- Three years of actuarial experience in one or more of the following activities:
1. actuarial or statistical work for operating units or management;
2. governmental regulatory actuarial functions; OR
3. performing actuarial computations for reserves, premium rates, and/or policy forms
Preferred Qualifications:
Completed five examinations from the Casualty Actuarial Society.
Duties Description The Actuarial Department of the New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) is seeking an Associate Actuary Casualty to assist with various actuarial projects related to Workers' Compensation.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Independently investigate difficult actuarial and statistical problems;
- Access and extract appropriate data from company systems and databases;
- Interact with and advise external consultants;
- Coordinate delivery of actuarial work products to other departments;
- Supervise some non-actuarial personnel or actuarial staff in more junior levels; AND Assist with the preparation of documentation and implementation of control procedures relating to all types of actuarial calculations.
