Minimum Qualifications Qualifications for each seasonal position vary according to the specific duties and responsibilities associated with a particular seasonal assignment and are determined by facility managers after consultation with regional and central office personnel staff.

Duties Description Most seasonal employees are employed between Memorial Day and Labor Day, but that can vary depending on the park or historic site. Park and Recreation Aides perform a wide variety of tasks, such as:
• Mowing lawns and maintaining landscaping
• Cleaning facilities and grounds
• Escorting tours at historic sites
• Assisting group outings
• Collecting parking/admission fees
• Performing park office work
• Supervising other seasonal staff
• Responding to patron concerns or needs
• Planning, delivering, and supervising organized recreational,
historic or environmental interpretation activities
• Performing semi-skilled labor using power-driven mechanical equipment or working within one or more trades

Current hourly salaries for Park and Recreation Aides range from $12.50/hr. to $17.63/hr. depending on location, type of work available and the experience of the employee. Many park regions also employ a limited number of seasonal trades persons or recreation program specialists.
