Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries; marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with GIS.
Experience with equipment operation and maintenance including tractors, brushhogs, skid steers, and trailering.
Experience in construction.
Knowledge of local floral and fauna identification.
Willing to obtain game of logging chainsaw certification.

Duties Description The duties and responsibilities of this position will vary seasonally. The technician will conduct habitat and access work on the region's Wildlife Management Areas. Duties will include maintaining boundary lines, maintaining and delineation of trails, habitat management and improvement activities, removing trees/limbs/brush as needed, invasive plant species control, guidance for Division of Operations habitat and access work, deploying nesting structures, assisting with Habitat Management and Access Work Plans, and assessment of control structures. Other duties may include: pelt sealing, duck banding, and assisting the public with wildlife information and/or permit requests.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and/or work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Overnight may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.

This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with a duration through 11/30/2021. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to date listed. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at interview.
