Permanent service as a Habilitation Specialist 1

Eligible to 70.1 transfer to a Habilitation Specialist 1 title
OR
Eligible for provisional appointment pending examination. To be eligible for provisional appointment, candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in a human services field and have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a clinical or direct care position OR one year of direct care or clinical experience providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
* If you are appointed provisionally, you must take the next scheduled civil service examination for this title and your score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before you can be permanently appointed. If you do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score, you may not be retained *.

Duties Description The candidate will attend and actively contribute to team conferences by devising, writing, and implementing Habilitative Service Plans, a developmental plan of activities and intervention strategies for individuals. Will review ongoing performance data and assists in establishment of habilitation plan and modify habilitation plan as necessary to assure continual progress. Will provide assessment, training, and assistance to individuals to develop skills promoting independence in classroom and alternative settings. Will administer evaluations at specified intervals to determine overall individual progress. The candidate will instruct and supervise direct care staff in appropriate strategies to be used with individuals..
