PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Our preferred candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree; have experience in conducting internal audits or program research, review and appraisal; and have working knowledge of Standards for Internal Control in NYS Government.

Duties Description The New York State Office of the Attorney (OAG) is seeking an Associate Administrative Analyst to serve as the agency Internal Control Officer to coordinate organizational studies and the review, analysis, evaluation, development and/or revision of agency policies and procedures.

As head of the OAG, the Attorney General is both the “People’s Lawyer” and the State’s chief legal officer. Over 1,800 employees, including attorneys, investigators, auditors, accountants, scientists, and legal support staff depend on an array of services and technologies in support of our shared mission. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. The specific duties of the Associate Administrative Analyst include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:

• Review internal control practices within every Division at the OAG to ensure overall agency compliance with the NYS Internal Control Act, as well as any related legislative, executive and administrative mandates and directives
• Prepare and certify annual internal control reporting requirements
• Implement internal control education for OAG staff/managers and ensure agency policies and procedures related to internal controls are effectively communicated
• Provide consultative support to agency managers to assist them in meeting internal control requirements
• Work cooperatively with Internal Control Officers from other agencies in order to stay abreast of new/emerging internal control techniques and practices
• Identify internal control weaknesses and implement effective solutions, as appropriate
• Represent the OAG on internal control matters with external organizations, such as the NYS Internal Control Association
• Establish cooperative liaisons to further enhance the agency’s ability to learn of best practices for possible implementation at the OAG
• Participate in additional agency projects as determined by executive management
