Minimum Qualifications 1. Must currently be a permanent Principal Psychologist, Grade 27;
OR

2. Must be active and reachable on the current Civil Service Eligible List for Principal Psychologist;

OR

3. Must be eligible for 70.1 transfer by way of current permanent status in a title deemed comparable by the NYS Department of Civil Service eligible list;

OR

4. Qualified for provisional* appointment to Principal Psychologist. In the event that there is no valid eligible list, applicants meeting the following minimum qualifications may be considered for provisional appointment.

*One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Licensed Psychologist, SG-25 or two years as a Psychologist 2, SG-23 or Associate Psychologist, SG-23.

Valid unrestricted license to drive in New York State.

Duties Description • Represents the psychology program or department and takes a lead role in ensuring that best practices are followed, and treatment is provided with fidelity, is evidence-based, and adheres to discipline standards.

• Assist Chief Psychologist with implementation of new regulatory mandates, statewide and local initiatives, and policy development.

• Assist the Chief Psychologist in planning, developing, and implementing and evaluating psychological programs and services.

• Co-Chairperson/Chairperson of the Behavior Human Rights Committee (BHRC) in Westchester, Rockland, and Orange Counties to ensure adherence to the Person-Centered Behavioral Interventions regulations.

• Co-Chairperson of the Local Risk Management Committee - reviews Risk Assessments, Higher Risk Behavior Support Plans, and accompanying documentation to ensure appropriate supports and services, adherence to court notifications, if applicable, and responsible transfer of individuals with forensic histories into state operated residences.

• Supports the Jervis, Article 16 Clinic by providing a variety of psychological services to individuals and groups, including specialized assessments and interventions such as specialized forensic assessment tools (e.g., ARMIDILO-S, STABLE-2007/ACUTE-2007, HCR-20) to better understand risk profiles and individualize supports and services. Conduct court required assessments (e.g., Assessment for Suitability for Voluntary Admission Status or Conversion. Treatment Over Objection, and Outpatient Restoration Services Evaluations) and represent OPWDD on clinical matters brought before the court.

• Supports the Jervis, Article 16 Clinic by providing coverage for the Clinic Administrator when unavailable.

• Conduct, and provide clinical leadership to psychologists who conduct, psychological services including Cognitive Evaluations, ADOS, and Suicide Risk Assessments, as well as individual and group therapy in the areas of Sex Offender Relapse Prevention, Anger Management, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Supportive Therapy for Psychosis.

• Coordinate with MHLS and HVDDSOO Nurse Liaison and area hospital staff to complete or oversee Licensed Psychologists who complete MOLST DNR evaluations.

• Train new hires in areas of psychology discipline and forensics, as needed.

• Provide supervision and clinical guidance to masters and non-licensed doctoral level psychologists.

• Provide clinical and administrative coverage for Chief Psychologist, as applicable.

• Perform other duties as requested by the Chief Psychologist and Administration.

• Travel will be required.
