Minimum Qualifications Permanent transfer candidates: Current Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Senior Accountant (G18); OR current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a title eligible to transfer under Section 70.1 or Section 70.4 of the Civil Service Law to a Senior Accountant (G18), Accountant Trainee 1 (NS), or Accountant Trainee 2 (NS).

(Courses such as business law, economics, statistics and most finance courses are NOT considered qualifying.) Public candidates:
Active list candidate on the New York State Department of Civil Service’s Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) Select Titles eligible list #50-001 with a score of 100 OR qualified 55B/C candidate in possession of a qualifying Bachelor’s or higher degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate would have experience with federal food programs, the Statewide Financial System, Excel and QuickBooks. The ability to analyze data, prioritize multiple assignments with excellent verbal communication and organizational skills.
Duties Description "The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federally funded public health nutrition program which provides reimbursement for healthy meals and snacks served to children in family day care homes, day care centers, emergency shelters, afterschool programs and adults in day care.
The Senior Accountant will perform professional accounting and auditing tasks required by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) federal regulations and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) federal circulars and handbooks. The Senior Accountant will conduct desk and on-site program reviews and yearly budget reviews for participating CACFP agencies. The applicant will analyze financial information for potential new sponsors and existing sponsors to determine financial integrity, viability and compliance with federal and state regulations. Responsibilities will include the interpretation of state and federal regulations, drafting correspondence and summarizing review findings based on those interpretations."
Additional Comments Candidates in some transfer eligible titles will also be required to possess a valid NYS Certified Public Accountant license, or a bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 24 credit hours in accounting, auditing and/or taxation courses in order to qualify.
