Minimum Qualifications G14 - A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Public Health, Epidemiology, Infection Control, Statistics/Biostatistics, Biomedical Science, Environmental Health, Environmental Science or a related field andone year of post-degree professional research experience in that field. Thirty graduate hours leading to an advanced degree in an appropriate field may be substituted for the required experience.
G18 - Bachelor's degree in Biology, Public Health, Epidemiology, Infection Control, Statistics/Biostatistics, Biomedical Science, Environmental Health, Environmental Science or a related field and two years of post-degree professional research experience in the appropriate field; OR a Master’s degree in one of the above fields
Preferred Qualifications: ARS (G14) - The preferred candidate will have experience in public health disease surveillance, the ability to collect and analyze data and interpret results, excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as experience using SAS, Microsoft Access, and Excel. RS1 (G18) - Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics/Biostatistics or a related field. Familiarity with epidemiological research methods. The preferred candidate will have experience in public health disease surveillance, the ability to collect and analyze data and interpret results, excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as experience using SAS, Microsoft Access, and Excel.
Duties Description The candidate will work in the Data Unit of the Bureau of Tuberculosis (TB) Control. Responsibilities will include: performing data management of the Electronic Clinical Laboratory Reporting System (ECLRS) and Communicable Disease Electronic Surveillance System (CDESS) to ensure timely and accurate reporting of TB cases, communicating with regional and local partners around data issues, downloading and analyzing CDESS data to determine trends in TB morbidity, developing and executing statistical programs, assisting with TB research studies and the preparation of abstracts and posters for presentation at conferences and scientific meetings. Candidate will be involved with the development and oversight of data procedures related to recently implemented reporting of genotyping results via ECLRS and utilize the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) developed National TB Indicators Project to conduct program evaluation and analyze program performance.
Additional Comments Occasional travel, including overnights and travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation, is required.
