Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must currently be on the Information Technology Specialist 2 eligible list OR be eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
52.6 Transfer:
Candidates must have one year of permanent, competitive service in a qualifying title allocated to salary grade 16 or higher.
Duties Description · Install and configure server software as requested by Office of the State Comptroller (OSC) business units.
· Diagnose and resolve server hardware/software problems.
· Monitor, evaluate and diagnose server performance and capacity issues.
· Work with other teams and business units to resolve technical and functional issues.
· Work with application owners and business units to schedule and test upgrades.
· Install security patches to remove vulnerabilities identified by the Information Security Office.
· Coordinate with vendors in the installation, administration, testing, and maintenance of hardware and software.
· Create support cases, as needed.
· Create and modify documentation, including process and procedure documents.
· Migrate objects across development, test, and production environments.
· Setup and maintain user security and policies.
· Address ServiceNow incidents, as needed.
· Provide on-call support for nightly Internet Services Administration (ISA) batch processing.
· Verify that supported applications and web servers supported by ISA are up and available.
· Check previous night’s batch processing results each morning, resolving any outstanding issues.
Additional Comments Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Computer-related associate’s degree.
· Demonstrated experience in computer networking (2 to 4 credit hours).
· Demonstrated experience in object oriented programming (2 to 4 credit hours).
· Demonstrated experience in operating systems (2 to 4 credit hours).
· Demonstrated experience in technical writing (2 to 4 credit hours).
· Demonstrated experience with UNIX/Linux/AIX and variations (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Demonstrated experience with IIS (Internet Information Services) (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to quickly master new information technology concepts using a variety of methods, such as on-the-job learning, research, and formal training.
· Demonstrated initiative, independence, confidentiality, planning and organizational skills.
