Minimum Qualifications Clinical Physician 1/SG-34:
All Department of Correctional Service's Clinical Physicians are in the non-competitive class. Positions are filled by direct appointment.

Possession of a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State and one year of post-licensure medical experience.

Clinical Physician 2/SG-36:
All Department of Correctional Service's Clinical Physicians are in the non-competitive class. Positions are filled by direct appointment.

Possession of a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State and two years of post-licensure medical experience.

Duties Description Clinical Physician 1: Diagnoses, treats, prescribes and provides general medical care and treatment services for assigned individuals, typically under the general direction of a Clinical Physician 2.

Clinical Physician 2: Independently diagnoses, treats, prescribes and provides general medical care and treatment services for assigned individuals; provides clinical supervision and guidance to Clinical Physician 1 and other medical providers; and may manage and supervise medical services for a facility.
