Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Eligible List Appointment: Candidates who are reachable on the Program Aide eligible list may be considered for appointment. If you are on the Civil Service eligible list for Program Aide, you may receive a canvass letter. You must complete and return it as instructed on the letter.

Section 70.1 Transfer to Program Aide: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-11 or above deemed eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Education Policy is seeking applicants to fill a Program Aide position in the New York State School for the Blind (NYSSB). Under the direction of the Superintendent and Coordinator of a State Operated School, the incumbent will perform administrative activities in the Superintendent’s office. Duties of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Develop school meeting and training schedules, maintain staff training records, and notify staff of scheduled trainings;
• Coordinate special projects for the Superintendent;
• Assist Superintendent with Justice Center Investigations and labor relations information and formulation of recommendations;
• Maintain confidential files for Labor/Management, investigations, and staff/student incidents;
• Administrator for Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and IEP processes, including coordinating with school districts, staff, and other agencies;
• Assist higher level staff in reviewing and updating School procedures, maintain and update school-wide policy books, Nursing Manual and Parent Handbook;
• Maintain general correspondence files, annual reports, Board of Visitors correspondence and meeting minutes;
• Maintain and enter NYS required school data, verify data reports, attend Data Coordinator meetings, and remain current on all NYS Data Reporting guidelines.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. Fingerprinting through the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Division of Criminal Justice Services, a background check with the Office of Children and Family Services and clearance from the Justice Center Staff Exclusion List is required for employment. Fees associated with this process are at the applicant’s expense. The work schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.

*Leads to a maximum salary of $57,929 based on annual performance advances.
