Minimum Qualifications Research Scientist 3 (Biostatistics): Bachelor’s degree in epidemiology, public health, biology, life sciences, statistics, or a related field and four years of professional research experience; or a Master’s degree and three years of such experience; or a Doctorate in one of the above fields and one year of such experience. Research Scientist 4 (Biostatistics): Bachelor’s degree in epidemiology, public health, biology, life sciences, statistics, or a related field and five years of professional research experience; or a Master’s degree and four years of such experience; or a Doctorate in one of the above fields and two years of such experience.
Preferred Qualification: The candidate should have:
• Knowledge and experience in designing and independently conducting research or surveillance activities.
• Proficiency using SAS to analyze large, complicated data sets.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and educational skills and the ability to apply and adapt them to various audiences and settings.
• Knowledge and experience in hospital infection prevention and control and/or research to reduce healthcare-associated infections in select settings and for targeted infections.
Duties Description The Research Scientist position is located in the Bureau of Healthcare- Associated Infections (BHAI) Central Office, Albany. Under the direction of BHAI’s Director, the incumbent will serve as Director of the Data Unit and lead scientific research statistician for the Bureau.
Additional Comments Permanent or contingent-permanent, full-time, non-competitive appointment. Routine travel, including occasional overnight travel and travel to areas which may not be served by public transportation, is required. (~20%)
