Minimum Qualifications A. Education
A Master's degree in a mental hygiene discipline (including physician assistant, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, speech pathology and audiology, communication disorders, psychology, recreation therapy, rehabilitation counseling, education, nursing), hospital administration, community mental health, business or public administration or other administrative area specifically related to health care, behavioral or social science from an accredited school; or a valid license to practice medicine in New York State or Canada. Current registration or licensure required where applicable.
Additionally, all candidates must be eligible to participate in Federal health care programs (e.g., Medicaid). Individuals excluded from participation in these programs will not be considered.

B. Experience
Four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative, consultative or supervisory experience in a mental health program including one of the following:
1. One (1) year of satisfactory experience in a position as administrative head of a multi-disciplinary treatment team;
OR
2. One (1) year of satisfactory supervisory, professional, or administrative experience in the development, operation, and/or implementation of the mental health service delivery system for State facilities, counties, or local/private agencies in two (2) or more of the following areas: program development, management procedures, community organization, resource planning, funding, program proposals, advisory boards, consumer and community advocacy and intergovernmental relations.
Additionally, all candidates must be eligible to participate in Federal health care programs (e.g., Medicaid). Individuals excluded from participation in these programs will not be considered.
Duties Description Under the general direction of the Executive Director and in close collaboration with the Clinical Director and other facility cabinet staff, the DDPC 1 – Operations is responsible for the non-medical clinical management of the facility’s inpatient forensic hospital. The DDPC 1 – Operations participates in the development of the facility's short and long term goals; establishes policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective service delivery; supervises, coordinates and directs the activities of subordinate managers in administrative and operational program areas; oversees the admissions and discharge process; monitors and oversees staffing to ensure quality patient care; ensures that service delivery complies with OMH guidelines and regulatory agency standards; ensures that all forensic issues are managed in accordance with court mandates; and ensures the maintenance of a safe and therapeutic environment.
Additional Comments Central New York Psychiatric Center (CNYPC) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Director, Psychiatric Center 1 - Operations. CNYPC is a state-operated, Joint Commission accredited facility that provides a full range of care and treatment to persons incarcerated in the New York State and county correctional system, as well as individuals in need of restoration services. It consists of a 169-bed secure inpatient forensic hospital located in Marcy, New York, as well as corrections-based services, consisting of a network of satellite and mental health units located in designated NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) facilities throughout New York State.
